Thorburn Associates, Inc. is a professional corporation founded in 1992 by Lisa A. Thorburn and Steven J. Thorburn and has been continuously engaged in the private practice of design and engineering since that time. TA  began with a staff of two, primarily providing services for architectural clients in the areas of acoustical consulting and audiovisual system engineering.  We now provide a full complement of services which allow the client, architect, or end-user a single point of contact during design and con­struction.

TA was founded with the vision of growth.  Our vision is larger than this company.  Acoustics, sound, lights, and entertainment are things we were both brought up with.  Our scouting backgrounds, with service to others, has instilled in us the need to provide quality service to others.  The decisions that are made will lean towards supporting growth.

By 1995, TA had more than tripled in size and moved from its original offices on Hillcrest Avenue to an office in Castro Valley.

In the Fall of 2001, TA moved again to larger offices in Castro Valley (our present location).  We now employ a staff of professional engineers, designers, drafters, technical assistants, and support staff in the main office, with technical staff in branch offices in the Los Angeles and Raleigh-Durham areas, with an associate in Anchorage, Alaska.

We have an outstanding record of continuing growth, of expansion of services offered, and of providing top quality services to our clients. The growth and reputation of the firm are the direct outcome of individual efforts and close cooperation by all of our associates. Our future success depends upon the continuation of these efforts and adherence to the highest professional standards and ideals.
