Thorburn Associates to Provide Unique and Innovative Solutions for Acoustic and Audiovisual Projects

Castro Valley, CA May 9, 1992 --

We are pleased to announce the recent formation of Thorburn Associates (TA), an acoustical and audiovisual consulting firm.  The principals have consulted and managed over 450 different projects over the last seven years.  It is their goal to provide unique and innovative solutions for Acoustic and Audiovisual projects.  TA's projects can be found in the following types of Facilities:
  • Presentation Facilities such as boardrooms and training, conference, and teleconferencing facilities.
  • Places of Worship and Theatres.
  • Single and Multi Family Housing and Hotels.
  • Office Buildings and Research Facilities.
  • Theme Parks and Destination Resorts.

TA provides a full complement of services which allow the client, architect, or end-user a single point of contact during design and construction.  These services include:

  • Room Acoustics and Sound Isolation
  • Audiovisual and Sound System Design
  • Mechanical Noise and Vibration Control
  • Environmental Acoustics and Traffic Noise Studies
  • Construction Administration
  • Expert Witness Testimony

Thorburn Associates' experience with the construction process provides the background necessary to make acoustical recommendations that are both innovative and practical.

The audiovisual design packages that TA develops are very complete and typically require minimal clarification during the construction phase.  AutoCAD is used to produce most of TA's design documents.  Custom computer programs have been developed to improve efficiency and provide quality control for redundant calculations.  TA believes that the principals must take an active role, throughout a project, to provide attention to detail and quality assurance.

The following projects, designed and managed by TA principals, have been recognized and received the following awards:

First Place Award for Systems and Facilities Design, 1991
