Thorburn Associates, an Acoustical Consulting and Audiovisual Engineering firm, has recently completed several new themed entertainment projects, including:
- A new audio system design for the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. The upgraded system will allow for complex digital and multiple inputs, with the completed system due to be installed by the Spring.
- Acoustical measurements/recommendations for the 2,500-seat Western Stunt Show Ampitheatre at Six Flags in Gurnee, IL. The client wanted to improve acoustics and speech intelligibility during the daily live action show.
- Creating a comfortable acoustic atmosphere in Bamboola, a 29,000 square foot Family Entertainment Center which recently opened in San Jose, CA. TA worked with White Hutchinson Leisure & Learning Group on this multi-zoned indoor/outdoor facility whose mixture of education and entertainment led to coverage by USA Today and received high ratings from a top parent’s magazine.
- Teaming up with the architects at Design Collaborative Southwest, Inc. of Albuquerque for a new iWERKS 8/70 theatre and planetarium at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science. DCSW will be the architect of record while TA will provide acoustical consulting and sound system design. The new theatre will be approximately 12,000 square feet, with seating for 230 guests.
With this increase in projects, Thorburn Associates is now expanding both their Northern and Southern California offices. In the Castro Valley office, Wilfred Cristobal has been promoted to Consultant and Aaron D. Rauch is the new Draftsperson. The Principals are also looking for additional A/V and marketing staff for the Burbank branch. |
