Thorburn Associates, an Acoustical Consulting and Audiovisual Engineering firm, has recently added four more people to their Castro Valley office. The new members are:
- Timothy Van Grove as Senior Consultant. Mr. Van Grove had previously headed his own sound system design company in Reno, specializing in casinos and entertainment projects.
- Avi Bortnick as a Consultant specializing in acoustics. Mr. Bortnick was a Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Florida, and part of the award-winning acoustic team in the architecture department.
- Tyler Rynberg, a recent graduate from Purdue, as a Consultant specializing in acoustics
- Lawrence ‘Tony’ Kenoly as a Technical Assistant. His experience covers live music production and sound systems.
This staff increase follows a growing workload for the firm. Recent and ongoing projects around the region include the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco (HOK, architects), the Charles Greene Library in Oakland (Michael Willis & Associates, architects), the Peoplesoft Center for Science and Environmental Education at the Oakland Zoo (Christopherson & Graff Architects), the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Deep Sea exhibit, and the Monterey Conference Center’s Serra Ballroom and Steinbeck Forum. Other current projects include: three different large format theatres for iWERKS Entertainment, the Carson City Aquatic Facility in Nevada, the Ethel M Theatre in Las Vegas (Cuningham Group, architects), and the Kowloon Club in Hong Kong (JKI Design, architects).
Even with the addition of our 4 new team members, the Principals are still looking for additional Acoustic, A/V and marketing staff. See our web site for further details. |
