During the 7th Annual Themed Entertainment Association Awards gala on September 16th, 2000, the coveted THEA Award trophies were presented. Three projects for which Thorburn Associates (TA) provided audio, video and control system engineering services or acoustical design solutions received honors. TA's winning venues are:

These projects were recognized for their excellence in the themed entertainment industry and raise the bar for entertainment venues everywhere. TA is proud to have been part of the winning teams that brought these facilities from dream to reality.

Audiovisual system design services for the IMAX Theatre, 22,000 square foot entry area and 3,000 square foot renovated lecture hall. TA also provided for acoustical recommendations for the IMAX Theatre entry area and lecture hall.
- Southpoint Theatre, Southpoint, NC
Acoustical recommendations for this new IMAX theatre located within a 17-screen multiplex in a shopping mall.
- Fernbank Planetarium Science Center, Atlanta, GA
Audiovisual consulting and acoustical recommendations for the refurbishment of this circular theatre with a 70-foot diameter dome forming the ceiling, which also serves as a projection screen. Seating capacity is 500, making it one of the largest planetariums in the United States.
- Louisiana Arts and Science Center, Baton Rouge, LA
Acoustical recommendations for the this new $3 million, 150-seat space theater which will utilize an 8/70 projection system and high resolution video presentations to present planetarium programs and giant screen motion pictures on a 60 foot dome.
- Aladdin Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, NV
Acoustical consulting for the nationally acclaimed and completely renovated 7,000-seat Theatre for the Performing Arts at Aladdin.
