Thorburn Associates (TA) promotes Jim Horn to Associate Principal in the Raleigh-Durham, NC office. He continues spearheading TA’s business development efforts. Lisa Thorburn, President of Thorburn Associates says, “Jim is passionate about his work and is committed to making our clients happy. In his past position as Senior Consultant, Mr. Horn was instrumental in positioning TA as a premier provider of acoustical and technology system design solutions. Jim Horn, Associate Principle Mr. Horn brings thirty-seven years of experience in system design to the museum, planetarium and large format cinema industries, the last nine of which were with Thorburn Associates. His professional achievements include developing the firstinternationally successful automation system for the Zeiss Model VI Planetarium projector and all peripheral control equipment. Mr. Horn has published many articles and is often asked to lecture at conferences and industry events. Highlights of some of his projects include: Morehead Planetarium, UNC Chapel Hill Visitor’s Center in Chapel Hill, NC; Fernbank Science Center in Atlanta, GA; IMAX Theater, Challenger Learning Center in Tallahassee, FL; Coulter Recital Hall Renovation at Western Carolina University in Charlotte, NC. Jim holds degrees in Electrical Engineering Technology and Business Administration from Durham Community College and certification in University Management Development from the Graduate School of Business at UNC Chapel Hill. “I am extremely grateful to Steve and Lisa for thinking enough of my capabilities to promote me to such a distinguished position," Horn said.
