CSU Humboldt - Behavioral & Social Sciences Building, Humboldt, CA |
The Steinberg Group |
Acoustic consulting and audiovisual system design for a 90,000 square foot facility. One room, used primarily for Native American cultural events, is a 3,000 square foot octagonal forum with a 25-foot high ceiling. A connecting lobby and gallery will be used as both a gathering space and to display artifacts. The audiovisual design was created for a tiered lecture room which seats 80 students. |
CSU Fresno - Bookstore/Student Union, Fresno, CA |
David Bartlett Associates |
Developed acoustical details for 42,000 square feet in dining area, bookstore, and student union. Services included sound isolation between the kitchen and cafeteria, audiovisual system upgrade, HVAC system noise control, and room acoustics for the multi-story building. |
CSU Hayward - Foundation/Bookstore, Hayward, CA |
David Bartlett Associates |
Developed acoustical details for a new 36,500 square foot, 3-story building immediately adjacent to the existing library. Focused on isolating noise from the HVAC systems and reviewed sound transmission between the retail and office spaces. |
Stanford University - Graduate School of Business, Stanford, CA |
Stanford University |
Audiovisual system upgrade design for several classrooms. These octagonal rooms have ADA hearing assistance systems, motorized screens, CRT front projection, ceiling-mounted monitors, and custom podiums with control panels and a VCR viewing screen built in. |
Stanford University - Center for Economic Research, Stanford, CA |
Anshen + Allen |
Studied a lecture room where the acoustics were a problem for the instructor. Determined that intelligibility was affected by high mechanical background noise levels and vocal echoes. Made recommendations to lower HVAC noise and apply acoustical treatments to certain walls. |
Stanford University - Alway Building/Medical Center Genetics Laboratory, Stanford, CA |
Anshen + Allen |
Developed mechanical noise and vibration control details for the renovation of this department in the Alway Building. Identified acoustically critical spaces such as the Genetics Library and Electron Microscope rooms, and provided construction administration. |
Stanford University - Psychiatric Facility, Stanford, CA |
Stanford University |
Control of mechanical noise isolation between exam rooms and offices, plus the acoustical isolation of Sleet Center from exterior/interior noise. The goal was to provide the maximum possible speech privacy for the staff within the building. |
Stanford University - Stauffer Hall, Stanford, CA |
William Gratiot, AIA |
Recommended solutions to decrease transfer of noise caused by rooftop exhaust fan and a separate water pump. |
Stanford University - Stauffer Hall/Dai and Waymouth Laboratories, Stanford, CA |
CAS Architects |
Reviewed HVAC options for noise control during the renovation of this building's laboratories. |
Stanford University - Block Microbiology/Laser Lab, Stanford, CA |
CAS Architects |
Developed acoustical details for a lab with vibration-sensitive laser equipment. |
Stanford University - Wilbur Hall Cafeteria, Stanford, CA |
The Steinberg Group |
Reviewed acoustic details and provided sound control suggestions for the dining hall/cafeteria. |
University of California Davis - Contained Research Facility, Davis, CA |
Anshen + Allen |
Mechanical noise and vibration control for systems within the laboratory building. |
University of California Davis - Equine Analytical Chemical Laboratory, Davis, CA |
Savidge Warren & Fillinger |
Sound isolation, room acoustics, and mechanical noise and vibration control for a distance learning studio remodel. This facility is currently being used by the university as a long distance learning broadcast facility. The system has multiple camera locations and audio/video post production capabilities for the preparation of educational presentations. The room is networked to 2 adjacent rooms for spill-over and supplemental studio locations. |
University of California Santa Cruz - Experimental Psychology Lab, Santa Cruz, CA |
UC Santa Cruz Physical Planning & Construction |
Acoustical measurements and determinations to maximize sound isolation for the booths in the Experimental Psychology lab. The booths, used for testing human perception, needed to be as isolated as possible from adjacent booths and the hallway. Solutions dealt with HVAC noise control and wall insulation. |
University of California, San Francisco - Gross Anatomy Lab, San Francisco, CA |
UCSF Facilities Management |
Audiovisual system design for the Dental Anatomy Lab. The system allows for portable camera display of dissection activities, speech reinforcement for the instructor, video tape playback, slide projection, computer graphics display, and image print-outs of freeze-frames. |
University of California, San Francisco - UCH Reuse/Demolition Investigation, San Francisco, CA |
MBT Architecture |
Recommended methods to control potential construction noise around the Parnassus campus during a seismic retrofitting of the Hospital Building's infrastructure. |
University of California, San Francisco - Pediatrics, San Francisco, CA |
Camissa & Wipf |
Audiovisual system design for ICU ward which allows patients to listen to music or watch videos and TV without bothering other nearby patients. Included pillow speakers and headphone jacks in the system. |
Mills College - Prospect Hills Dormitory, Oakland, CA |
Don Dommer Associates |
Sound isolating partition design, development of HVAC noise control, and acoustical design details for a college dormitory. |
Indiana University - Medical Center (Riley Outpatient Center), Indianapolis, IN |
Kaplan/McLaughlin/Diaz |
Room acoustics and mechanical noise control for a 50-seat classroom, plus audiovisual system infrastructure design for a 216-seat auditorium and surrounding conference rooms. Sound isolation advice was provided to insulate the educational center from noise created by a fast food restaurant located one floor above. |
College of San Mateo - Choral Room, San Mateo CA |
Kaplan/McLaughlin/Diaz |
Provided recommendations to upgrade the existing sound system and add an audiovisual system with preparations for future teleconferencing. The new system will include film, slide, and video/computer graphics projection with a remote control. The room is currently being used as a lecture hall and choir room |
Whitman College - Cordiner Hall, Walla Walla, WA |
Whitman College |
Acoustical analysis of Cordiner Hall lobby, which had a reputation for being very reverberant. The acoustics of the lobby made it difficult to use for pre-function activities and dinner parties. Provided for acoustical wall finish recommendations and alternate layout pattern for the loudspeakers. |
