The new two story, 49,600 gross square feet Public Safety Building including a 60-stall secure basement parking garage and adjacent 122-stall above grade parking structure, includes facilities for Police Department Headquarters, 911 Emergency Dispatch Center, and Emergency Operations Center. TA developed acoustical requirements including room acoustics, sound isolation and speech privacy, and background noise from mechanical systems. For Audiovisual Consulting, TA determined audiovisual system functional requirements and defined the end-users' needs (room uses and presentation requirements). The project is seeking LEED Gold. Natural ventilation was proposed, which would result in acoustical challenges in terms of sound isolation. |

This facility is the command center for County operations during a disaster/emergency situation. When not operating under an emergency situation, this facility is utilized as a training facility for the Kern County Fire Department. The Emergency Operations Center functions with a larger operations room, conference room for high-level strategic planning and multi-use rooms for press conferences, coordinating procedures with other state and local agencies. Each of these rooms are equipped with wall mounted monitors for tracking and monitoring of activities, sound system for internal and external uses and computer/data systems. |

For audiovisual consulting services, TA provided design services as needed for audio, video and control systems designs for the designated spaces. |
