Design and Production, Inc. |
Acoustical consulting and sound system design for the interactive sports tent containing various exhibits and games featuring Olympic athletes. Provided designs to control crowd noise in order to create a reverberation and echo-free environment, and mechanical noise control for the portable air conditioning units. Also optimized the loudspeaker design and placement so the sound system would localize athletes' voices at game sites while using event noises to simulate the ambiance of a stadium crowd. The audiovisually-enhanced games gave visitors a chance to participate in Olympic-style events with track and field champ Jackie Joyner-Kersee, basketball great Grant Hill, and gymnast Shannon Miller. |

This 55,000 square foot FEC occupies a facility that was once used as an exposition center. Services included the design of music/paging system, selections for wall finishes and constructions, mechanical noise and vibration control, and sound isolation between various areas within the center. This building was an acoustical challenge due to the arched roof and because the walls are a combination of concrete and glass. Dinotropolis not only features the world's first roller coaster to go through the middle of soft modular play equipment, it also received the 1996 Newsmaker award for the best foreign FEC. |
